About Hunar

Registered in 2008 under the Societies Act 1860, Hunar Foundations took its first batch in January 2010 in premises supplied by Delhi Mercantile Society, Karachi in its DMS School facility. The students gave their City & Guilds exam at the end of the year and till 2016 14 batches had graduated with one year diplomas.

Hunar Foundation’s key objective is to provide school graduates and other young adults with international standard vocational training that meets the expectations of the market, leading to employment or small business creation – and eventually economic freedom and empowerment. Hunar Foundation offers this opportunity to the underprivileged and marginalized segments of society where the need is more urgent.

Hunar offers the students a high quality learning environment of international standards. The workshops are well equipped and the courses designed to meet industry requirements. This ensures a high degree of employability for Hunar graduates.

In addition, the students are taught IT and English language communication. Importance is also given to work ethics and moral and social values.

Today Hunar Foundation has 6 campuses; five for males one for females and another set to be finished in January 2018 complete with its first Teaching Training Institute. THF plans to increase the number of purpose build ‘Institute of excellence’ and introduce more Teaching Training Institute across the country by the year 2030, graduating 100,000 students annually.

A significant component of all our campuses and facilities as well as efforts are geared towards teaching trades to women. By 2030, the goal is to train and certify 100,000 young men and women into bread earners for their families.

THAT MEANS OVER 8 MILLION OF THEIR DEPENDENTS WILL BE LIFTED OUT OF POVERTY AND WILL BE SUPPORTED BY HUNAR GRADUATES FOR THEIR HEALTH AND EDUCATION NEEDS.

Providing customer-oriented and industry specific skills

The real aim is to act as a catalyst to promote vocational training in Pakistan, raise the bar of technical training in Pakistan with international qualifications and make our graduates employable in Pakistan and abroad.

Hunar continuously enhance technical skills of our instructors by sending selected instructors to Australia, Germany and the US, besides inviting instructors and advisors from Germany and Australia for month-long sessions in Pakistan.

HUNAR Institutes

Delhi Mercantile Society Technical Institute (DMSTI

Delhi Mercantile Society Technical Institute (DMSTI) is the first ever institute of Hunar Foundation. It started its operations in 2009. The institution can facilitate approximately 440 students altogether in morning and evening shifts. DMSTI is located at Tariq Road which is the center of Karachi City

Hunar Foundation Hajiani Ashraf Khatoon Technical Institute, Rashidabad, Sindh

Located at Tando Allahyar on main Mirpur Khas Road, it is the second institute of Hunar Foundation, and was established in 2012. The institution can facilitate approximately 1,000 students altogether in morning and evening shifts.

Hunar Foundation Sahib Dad Abdul Mannan Khan Technical Institute, Kharian

Sahib Dad Abdul Mannan Khan Technical Institute (SDAMKTI) is the most recent edition to Hunar Foundation’s campuses. The institute is located in Kharian, Jhelum and can accommodate around 1000 students.

Hunar Foundation PakArab Technical Training Institute, Khanewal Road, Multan

Set up in collaboration with PAKARAB Fertilizers, the institute is spread over 2 acres housed inside the PakArab fertilizer plant located at Khanewal Road, Multan. It started it’s operations in January 2017 and have a capacity to teach up to 800 students at any point in time. Currently, the trades that are being taught are Mechanical Manufacturing and Electrical & Electronics but will expand to include more trades by mid next year.

Hunar Foundation Central Vocational Institute For Women, Karachi

Hunar Foundation Vocational Institute for Women is the first women institute established by Hunar Foundation. The pilot institute started operating in the year 2015 with over 60 graduates in the field of Beautician and Hair Dressing. The upcoming institutes in Saddar and Korangi will have a combined total capacity of close to 1000 students with more women friendly trades like Industrial stitching, Cooking & Baking, Housekeeping, besides English and Computers to begin with.

Hunar Foundation Korangi Campus, Ibrahim Hyderi Road, Korangi, Karachi

Spread over 4.5 acres this campus will include both men’s and women’s institute as well as a teacher training institute. This is because teaching vocational skills is a specialist field. Once completed, it will be able to house about 2000 students.

RECRUITMENT STRATEGIES

Hunar has a defined and systematic process by which students are inducted, taught employable trades and then assisted with placement in the industry.

To create awareness among intended students and their parents about admissions in Hunar Institutes; three types of activities are conducted. These activities are primarily conducted by Principals and teachers / instructors of the institutes. They are supported by the Marketing Department

Industries are desperate for qualified, trained and disciplined work force, therefore the responsibility of an industrial linkages office is of great importance; over the last few years Hunar has been taking an active part in placement of students and has succeeded in several successful placements in leading organizations.

An Industrial Linkages Office is also being established at Hunar to prepare industry related skill sets and curriculum, to initiate internship programmes, and to extract the real need of each organization at the right time before graduation of particular batch of students. The Industrial Linkages Office will also develop close relationship with employer federations, trade associations and chamber of commerce in major industrial cities.
