Brief Overview
DUA Foundation, established in 2013–14, works to address essential healthcare and humanitarian needs of underserved communities in Pakistan. Its key areas include neonatal healthcare, safe drinking water, food support, and emergency relief.
Through its 25-incubator NICU and six-bed step-down ward, DUA provides specialized care to critically ill newborns, particularly from low-income families. The Foundation also develops wells, hand pumps, and solar-powered water systems in water-stressed communities, particularly in Tharparkar, while providing food and emergency assistance to vulnerable families.
Core Programs and Services
- Neonatal Healthcare: 25-incubator NICU and 6-bed step-down ward treating 70–80 newborns monthly.
- Water & Community Development: Wells, hand pumps, and solar-powered water systems in water-stressed areas, particularly Tharparkar.
- Food & Family Support: Rations and essential assistance for vulnerable families.
- Emergency Relief: Essential supplies and support for communities affected by emergencies and disasters.
What Makes Our Approach Distinct
DUA Foundation’s model combines need-based planning, sustainable infrastructure, and community-focused implementation. Its water initiatives use locally appropriate solutions such as water wells, community hand pumps, and solar-powered systems with storage tanks to provide reliable access to water. Projects are selected based on identified community needs and local conditions, with emphasis on long-term functionality and community benefit. The Foundation also integrates healthcare, humanitarian assistance, and development initiatives to address both immediate and long-term community needs.
Impact Stories
M.I.’s four newborn babies required urgent NICU care, but the high cost of specialized treatment made it unaffordable for the family. DUA Foundation provided all four babies with free access to its NICU, medical care, monitoring, and necessary treatment.
With timely intervention and support from qualified healthcare professionals, all four newborns survived and recovered successfully. They are now healthy, bringing immense relief to their family and highlighting the vital role of accessible neonatal care for families facing financial hardship.
