With a mission to provide quality education to every child in Pakistan, Tameer-e-Millat has a network of over 70 educational institutions reaching out to 150,000 children with the promise of a better future.

Tameer-e-Millat Foundation’s vision is to catalyse positive socio-economic change in Pakistan by providing quality education, raising literacy standards, and ultimately addressing poverty in communities throughout Pakistan.

Pakistan has the world’s sixth largest population at about 185 million people and one in every four citizens is poor. With a national literacy rate of 56% (67% for men, 42% for women), Pakistan has one of the largest illiterate populations in the world. Without adequate education, people face a life of poverty, unemployment, and hopelessness.

Sixty years ago, an ambitious student of a simple “taat” school in Khewra, District Jhelum aspired to be successful. Against all odds, through hard work, dedication and the grace of Allah (SWT) he achieved his goal of becoming a USA trained medical physician.

In the 1980′s, at the height of his career, rather than personal advancement, he chose to go back to his homeland to repay what he believed was his debt to his nation. He opted to revolutionize the educational system of Pakistan and make education accessible to every child. That young student was Dr. Zaheer Ahmad.

Turning vision into reality, Dr. Zaheer established Tameer-e-Millat Foundation (TMF), a nongovernmental organization, in 1987.
