What Makes Our Approach Distinct
Vital Pakistan Trust has developed an electronic health record system that captures longitudinal, multi-dimensional data points across the Maternal, Neonatal, and Child Health (MNCH) journey. The application has 14 integrated modules that enable front-line workers to deliver quality MNCH services in low-resource settings across Karachi. Every health worker has a tablet, and every patient has a unique number that, when entered, provides the health worker with the patient’s full health information. This enables health workers to improve care and coordination by consolidating patients’ health information over time and across service providers.
Impact Stories
Humaira’s Journey of Strength and Safe Delivery
Name: Humaira Akram
Location: VITAL Pakistan Trust Facility (Creek Hospital)
Duration of Care: Antenatal to delivery (complicated pregnancy with PIH)
Humaira Akram’s pregnancy was complicated by Pregnancy- Induced Hypertension (PIH), putting both her and her baby at risk. To manage her condition, she was prescribed Aldomet (500mg) three times a day and closely monitored by her doctors. As her due date neared, she was admitted to Creek Hospital for observation.
Despite the risks, Humaira safely delivered her baby through a spontaneous vaginal delivery—a moment of immense relief. What stood out most was the exceptional care she received from VITAL Pakistan Trust. From regular check-ups to emotional support, the VPT team provided her with unwavering care. Grateful for their compassion and expertise, Humaira’s story is one of strength, resilience, and the life-changing impact of accessible, quality maternal healthcare.
