In Pakistan, over 10 million women are at risk of breast cancer, and sadly, more than 40,000 lose their lives each year to this disease. Pink Ribbon has responded by establishing Pakistan’s first Dedicated Breast Cancer Hospital – the “Pink Ribbon Breast Cancer Trust Hospital to support the needy breast cancer patients in their fight against this fatal disease.”
Who are We?
Pink Ribbon Pakistan is the only not-for-profit organization in the country which is dedicatedly working on the issue of breast cancer with nationwide outreach for nearly 20 years. Our scope of work is holistic, from strategic interventions to public awareness including patient-aid and service delivery to provide much needed relief.
The journey of Pink Ribbon has been full of challenges. There was a time when even mentioning the word Breast Cancer was a taboo, which has now become a priority topic in the national health agenda. Through various programs Pink Ribbon has educated 1.9 million young girls on breast self-examination, and 20 million women on early detection techniques. Our consistent campaigns and various community engagement initiatives have led to a 500% increase in mammogram screening in Pakistan. Other vital, free of cost and continued patient services include, tele-healthcare, patient referral system, sponsoring a patient through medical co-pay program, and more recently a free breast cancer clinic.
