Introduction
The Patients' Behbud Society (PBS) for The Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH) is a charitable organisation that collects and disperses funds to provide world-class health care to zakat mustahiq and underprivileged patients treated at AKUH. All funds collected by PBS are used exclusively on patient care; none of the funds are used for administrative or other purposes.
The Aga Khan University Hospital was built on the guiding principles of Quality, Relevance, Access and Impact. Since its inception, AKUH has been creating access to quality healthcare for patients from all socioeconomic, ethnic, and religious backgrounds, from across the country and beyond.
The Patients' Behbud Society (PBS) for AKUH was formed as an independent, volunteer-run, Shariah-compliant body; its purpose is to expand AKUH's welfare programme to include Zakat donations so that access could be extended to as many Mustahiq and indigent patients as possible. In Pakistan, many patients have no choice but to look to AKUH for their complex procedures, but they worry about the costs that can be expected with a high level of care and treatment. For that, your kind donations are essential. AKUH extends care and support to as many of these patients as possible with the same effort and attention as any other patient. Your zakat, sadaqat and general donations made to PBS have the power to ease the suffering of patients in need by giving them a gift of life.
