Dr. Prem Kumar Sital Das Memorial Trust has taken a remarkable initiative by establishing a hub of excellence in the form of Prem Nagar at Islamkot Tharparkar, which houses multiple essential facilities, including public schools, a campus of Liaquat University of Medical & Sciences (LUMS), a nursing college, the SOS Children's Village, an old age home, and a home and school for special children.
Islamkot Tharparkar is a region in Pakistan that is often overlooked and underserved, where thousands of children with special needs continue to suffer in silence, lacking access to the care, education, and support they deserve.
As per the data available to the Dr. Prem Kumar Sital Das Memorial Trust, 1040 persons with disabilities were identified only in the Tharparkar region, many of whom lack access to proper care. Recognizing this urgent need, the Trust took the initiative of establishing a dedicated Home and School for Special Children in Tharparkar.
At Prem Nagar, Islamkot, under the umbrella of the Dr. Prem Kumar Sital Das Memorial Trust, the infrastructure of the Home for Special Children has been completed. At the same time, the School for Special Children is expected to be completed within the next two months. This home will have the capacity to support 250 children with disabilities.
